These Terms of Use (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and NextRead ("we", "our", or "us") for the NextRead apps for iPhone, iPad and Android, the web app, and the related services (the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

• You must be at least 13 years old to use NextRead.
• If you're under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms for you.
• Keep your account details accurate and your password safe. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
• One account per person. Accounts can't be sold or transferred.

15-minute reads are original works by NextRead, carefully written by us and reviewed by our editors. Each one is our own take on a book: its ideas, story and themes, in our own words. We draft them with the help of AI tools; our editors check and edit every read before it goes live.

• They aren't affiliated with, authorised or endorsed by the books' authors or publishers, and they don't replace the original books.
• We work to keep them accurate, but they may contain mistakes or leave things out.
• Book titles, covers and catalogue details belong to their owners and are shown only to identify the books. Some of them come from public catalogues such as Google Books and Open Library.
• Quotes from a 15-minute read are NextRead's words, not the author's. When you share one, it's credited to NextRead.
• A 15-minute read is a way to find books, not a substitute for them. If you enjoy one, read the full book: each read links to it.

Rights holders. If you believe a 15-minute read or anything else in the Service infringes your rights, write to social@nextread.club with the work concerned, where it appears in NextRead and how to reach you. We review every notice promptly and remove or change content where it's appropriate.

NextRead is free to use. A free account can read the intro of every 15-minute read, and use shelves, reviews, streaks, leagues and the community. We may change what the free plan includes.

NextRead Pro is a monthly or yearly subscription that unlocks every 15-minute read and the Pro features shown in the app. Its price is shown before you buy.

• Where you pay. You buy Pro through the App Store, Google Play or, on the web, our payment provider Stripe. That store's terms also apply to your purchase.
• Automatic renewal. Pro renews at the end of each period at the current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. The renewal is charged in the 24 hours before the period ends.
• Free trial. New accounts may get a free trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, it becomes a paid subscription and you're charged. Any unused part of a trial ends when you buy a subscription.
• Cancelling. Cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings, or in NextRead's Settings for a web subscription. Pro stays on until the end of the period you've paid for.
• Refunds. The App Store and Google Play handle refunds under their own rules. For a web subscription, contact us.
• Price changes. If Pro's price changes, we'll tell you in advance, and you can cancel before the new price applies.

None of this limits your rights under the consumer laws where you live.

You can add reviews, ratings, highlights, notes, and a profile name and picture ("your content"). It stays yours.

You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store and show your content within the Service, as needed to run it. For example, a review you share is shown to other readers. The licence ends when you delete that content or your account.

You're responsible for your content. Don't post anything that is illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit or misleading, that infringes someone else's rights, or that shares someone else's personal details. No spam. You can report a post in the app, and we may remove content that breaks these rules.

Some features use AI, such as personal picks For You. AI output can be wrong or incomplete, so use your own judgement before relying on it.

• Streaks, XP, leagues and badges are for fun. They have no money value and can't be sold or exchanged.
• Your name, picture and weekly XP are shown to the readers in your league.
• We may correct or reset them to fix mistakes, or when they were earned by cheating or abuse.

Please don't:

• copy, scrape, republish, share or sell 15-minute reads or other content from the Service (reading offline in the app is fine);
• get around the free plan's limits or any security feature;
• reverse engineer the apps, except where the law allows it;
• use bots or other automation to use the Service or earn XP;
• use the Service to break the law, harm others, or disrupt how it works.

The Service, including its software, design and 15-minute reads, belongs to NextRead and its licensors and is protected by law.

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the apps and read their content for your own non-commercial use, on devices you own or control. For the iOS app, the App Store's Usage Rules also apply.

• You can delete your account any time in Settings. Your data is then deleted as described in our Privacy Policy.
• Deleting your account ends a web or Google Play subscription. An App Store subscription must be cancelled in your Apple account settings, or Apple keeps billing you.
• We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these Terms, or when the law requires it. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you why first.

We work to keep NextRead running smoothly, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". We may change, add or remove features, and the Service may sometimes be unavailable. If we ever close the Service, we'll tell you in advance where we can.

As far as the law allows, NextRead isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or goodwill. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

If you got the iOS app from Apple's App Store:

• These Terms are between you and NextRead, not Apple. NextRead, not Apple, is responsible for the app and its content.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
• If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund the app's purchase price, if any. As far as the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
• NextRead, not Apple, handles any claims about the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
• If anyone claims the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, NextRead, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
• You confirm you're not in a country under a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and you're not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept them, Apple may enforce them against you.

If you got the Android app from Google Play, Google Play's terms also apply, and Google isn't responsible for the app.

We may update these Terms. Before an important change takes effect, we'll tell you in the app or by email. If you keep using NextRead after that, the new Terms apply. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.

If something goes wrong, please contact us first. Most problems are quicker to fix that way.
